id bi idHand in hand

Two 16-year-olds raised $15,000 to rebuild lives after the war.

Id bi id means “hand in hand”. We filmed the families of Nabatieh, told their stories, and delivered the aid to them in person: more than seven family businesses rebuilding, and 100 orphaned children hosted.

Who we are

Two students who refused to just watch the news

Id bi id · Hand in hand

In late 2024 a war hit Lebanon again. People lost loved ones, homes and jobs. We were 16, and we decided not to sit on the couch watching the news. We started Id bi id, a humanitarian initiative that gives direct aid to the people who need it most.

We believe change starts with action, however young or small the effort.

How we did it

Four steps, no middlemen

From the first visit to Nabatieh to handing over the aid, in about three months.

  1. 26 Dec 2024

    We went to Nabatieh

On 26 December 2024 we drove to Nabatieh, in South Lebanon, and sat down with families whose shops, workshops and homes had been destroyed.

  2. Feb 2025

    We told their stories

We filmed their interviews, edited them into short films and published them on Instagram, with the families’ consent.

  3. From 18 Feb 2025

    People gave

The films drove donors to our GoFundMe and our website. We aimed for $3,000–4,000 and raised more than $15,000.

  4. March 2025

    We delivered it by hand

We went back to Nabatieh and handed the aid to each family in person. The surplus reached more than seven businesses.

Timeline

From an idea to $15,000 in five months

  1. December 2024

    The plan

Two 16-year-olds set a target: $3,000–4,000 to support two to four war-affected families.

    First visit to Nabatieh

We interview Qassem, Aaref and Tarek among the rubble of their businesses.

  3. February 2025

    Launch

Id bi id goes public on Instagram, with a website and a GoFundMe opened on 18 February.

  4. Early 2025

    Goal passed, aid delivered

A month in, we have passed our target. We return to Nabatieh to hand the families their aid in person.

  5. March 2025

    A day at the Dunes

100 children from Dar El Aytam at the trampoline park, with an Iftar for 60 of them, 23 volunteers.

  6. Total

    $15,000+ for 7+ businesses

About four times what we set out to raise.

Six films, shot on the ground
